What a sight! Naked fire combined with the sun… If the eyes of the elves could not withstand such brightness, it was even more true for our human eyes. That is why I decided to use a more symbolic representation of Arien.
There is something incredibly attractive about this connection between femininity and the sun. Of course, this is the case in different cultures (e.g. Amaterasu, the Japanese goddess of the sun), but we encounter symbols related to the moon more often.
And here, female Maiar, whom even Morgoth feared, was entrusted with the power of the sun. Arien – another of the amazing heroines of Tolkien!
