About the Artist
Hi! I’m Magdalena
I am an artist based in Bielsko-Biała, Poland. Through my art, I want to provide fantasy refuge for those tired of the mundane and to show the hope and beauty of the world. My first inspiration was “The Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R. Tolkien, and ever since I read it, fantasy has remained in my heart forever.
My illustrations capture specific moods and emotions, and a sense of a deeper history behind them, expressing everything through the lens of fantastical worlds. However, I do not forget about what is close and tangible and thus capture in paintings local, familiar landscapes.
Professionally, I have been working as a book illustrator and 2D artist in the game industry since 2016. My works can be found on book covers and in mobile games, and my paintings and drawings are in private collections.
I create using both traditional (pencil, gouache, watercolor) and digital media. My digital illustrations portray vast, painterly landscapes in which characters in lineart and cel-shaded style find their place. I draw inspiration from Japanese animation, especially from artists creating background art for anime, such as Yoichi Nishikawa or Kazuo Oga.
