But taking it a bit more seriously, Melian is a truly remarkable character. One of the wisest Maiar, with a beautiful voice, who knows powerful chants. It was she who taught the nightingales their songs.
She was the only Ainur to marry the Child of Ilúvatar and give birth to a child, Luthien, one of Tolkien’s most iconic characters.
If you have ever been in the company of someone good and wise, you know how much you can benefit from such a meeting, how much it can make your heart happy. When I read about Melian, I would really like to meet her. To see the light of the Two Trees in her face would be indescribable. And her words… Each one is worth remembering.
