Everyone who has read Tolkien knows the importance of the Sea for him.
How many characters are associated with it! Eärendil, who was nicknamed “the Mariner”. Ulmo, the Lord of Waters, was most involved in the affairs of the Children of Ilúvatar in Middle-earth. Legolas, who, after hearing the cry of the seagulls, would never again find peace under the trees.
Uinen, the Lady of the Seas, is also such a character. The one who can calm troubled waters, a friend of the Teleri and the protector of sailors of Númenor.
This friendship with the elves and humans, and the help she brought them, are what most captivates me about Uinen. She embodies the good, beautiful side of the Sea. And although the waters in my drawing are troubled, Uinen was the greatest ally of those who undertook sea voyages.
